1989 UM Hall of Fame inductee, Gerald Douglass, completed his collegiate career with a long list of impressive credentials. Douglas left Montevallo as the most decorated player in UM men's basketball history. After his final season, Douglass held ten school records, including 1.860 career points. His 791 career field goals and 1,636 career field goal attempts are still Montevallo records.

Douglass, a four-year letterman, earned All-Southern States Conference honors each of his last three seasons. He was also a three-time UM Most Valuable Player, regarded as a complete player on both ends of the court. Known mostly as a tenacious rebounder in his early years. Douglass led the Falcons in scoring and rebounding his last two seasons, during which he earned 2nd team All-American status.
