Henry Ezell etched his name in the basketball record books of Montevallo when he exploded onto the scene in 1965. When he left in 1969 he had established himself as one of the premier cagers of all time.

Ezell is currently fifth one the list of single season scoring with 508 points in only 26 games in 1967-68. In 1966-67 he scored 339 points in only 21 games. He is currently sixth on the all-time career scoring list with 1,177 points.

He has owned the records for most field goals made with 516 in 85 games and best free throw percentage, shooting .767 (145-189). He still holds the record for the longest string of double figure games with 27 stretching from Feb. 23, 1967 to Feb. 23,1968 and most times to score in double figures in a career with 60.

Ezell led his 1966-67 team with a 16.1 average and his 1967-68 team with a 19.5 average. At one time he had amassed the most points in a two year span (1969-71) with 976 points in 52 games.

After his graduation from The University of Montevallo with a degree in HPER, Ezell, a native of Graceville, Florida, moved back home and coached before moving into administration when he became principal of Cottondale High School.
