Matthew Orton has been a significant contributor to the visual history of the University of Montevallo athletic program. He served as Director of Photography from 1991 to 2014. For over two decades, he (and his office) provided an extensive portfolio of athletic pictures (action and portrait) of all UM athletic teams. His office maintained an archive of not only athletic events, but University events as well. One cannot refer to an athletic photo for Falcon Athletics without thinking about Matthew Orton. Orton collected several awards during his stint at UM including;
