In 1996, Roper was the Co-MVP at the Gulf South Conference Affiliated Tournament and was named to the First Team All-Gulf South Conference. In 1997, Roper once again was named to the First Team All-GSC, and was a GSC All-Tournament selection. Guiding the Falcons from the midfield in his two years at UM, Roper helped the Falcons to two Gulf South Conference Tournament appearances.
