A former outstanding member of the Falcon basketball program who is now a member of the Jacksonville State University coaching staff. Still holds the record for most rebounds in a season with 324, and is tenth on the career scoring list with 1,012 points, despite having played only two years. His point total is the most for any two-year player in UM history. Averaged 13 rebounds per game at UM, which is another school record. The other marks led by Hobbs include: free throws made (197) and attempted (256) in a season, highest career scoring average (19.5), and free throws made in a single game(17). He was a two-time team MVP and was selected for the All-Alabama Small College team for two years straight, as well as the All-Alabama Collegiate Conference team. In 1970-71, he was named team captain, and won the coveted Neal Shirley Award in the same season. Hobbs scored 30 or more points in a game on eight separate occasions. He is currently assistant basketball coach at Jacksonville State University, where his squad won a national championship in the 1984-1985 season.
