Kelly Green Matthews was on of the top all-around players in the history of Montevallo women's athletics and played basketball at UM from 1984-88.

She is the school's fifth-highest career scorer (1,426 points), has the sixth-highest career scoring average (13.8 ppg), is sixth all-time in rebounds (556), eighth all-time in steals (140), second all-time in free throw shooting (78.3 percent) and third in career assists (367).

Kelly averaged 18.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game as a senior in 1987-88 as the Lady Falcons went 16-14 under then-coach Joe Hagan. She averaged 15.6 points per game as a junior and 8.7 points per game as a sophomore and served as an assistant coach at UM after her playing career ended. Kelly was named the 1988 NAIA District 27 Female "Athlete of the Year" and made all -district for three-consecutive seasons. Twice she was selected as an honorable mention All-America (1986-87, 1987-88) during her stay at Montevallo. She won the Jan Eagles Scholar-Athlete Award, which recognizes the graduating senior with the highest grade-point average and the Algernon Sidney Sullivan Award at graduation, which recognizes campus leadership and outstanding classroom performance. Green earned a bachelor's degree in 1988 in graphic design/art and a master's degree in 1989 in education.
