Frank Lightfoot began the baseball program at Montevallo in 1958. It was the first intercollegiate athletic activity at the University. He guided the program for 10 years. He left the team in 1967 to attend graduate school and work on his doctorate at the University of Alabama. He returned to the University shortly after completing his degrees and continued to work as a professor until his retirement in 1991. He won 43 career games and set the foundation for Montevallo's rich baseball tradition.
