Gary O'Neill was a defensive juggernaut on the pitch from 2010 to 2013 assisting the Falcons in winning 55 games over this timeframe with 36 shutouts. In his senior year of 2013, O'Neill was named first team All-Peach Belt Conference, was named second team NSCAA Division II All-Southeast Region, he was named second team Daktronics Division II All-Southeast Region and appeared in and started 18 matches in his senior year. O'Neill had four goals and one assist and two game-winning goals, including one in the semi-finals of the PBC Tournament against Flagler. He was named to the PBC All-Tournament team and served as the captain for the Falcons. In 2012, O'Neill earned the program's Defensive Player of the Year award, was named first team All-PBC, first team Daktronics NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region and second team National Soccer Coaches Association of America NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region. As a sophomore in 2011, O'Neill was named Second Team All-PBC, Preseason All-PBC and PBC Defensive Player of the Week. O'Neill arrived in Montevallo in the fall of 2010, appearing in 21 games, starting in each. He was named Second Team All-PBC. He scored one goal, had two assists and scored the game-winning goal against Huntingdon College. For his efforts, O'Neill was named the UM Most Valuable Defender.
