One of Montevallo's first "Big Sluggers," Dunn made Honorable mention All-American in 1980 and Second Team All-American in 1981.

Dunn, who was voted Most Valuable Player of the 1981 season, was a member of two District 27 Championship teams and was Montevallo's first Second Team All-American.

Dunn had a lifetime batting average of .348 and hit 30 home runs while playing for The University of Montevallo. His career RBI average set standards for those to follow and his slugging percentage of .556 is one of the highest in the history of Montevallo baseball. Dunn also holds the school record for most hits in a game (5) and most singles in a game (5).

After his baseball career at UM, Dunn's uniform number was retired and he was drafted by the San Francisco Giants and assigned to the Fresno Giants. In Fresno, he was voted most popular player by the fans.

In 1982 Dunn married Tina Pickrell in a hot air balloon above the stadium in Clinton, Iowa. Dunn and Tina now have three sons, Brooks, Brett and Brody. Dunn is employed by Josten's in the Mobile area with whom he has won numerous sales volume awards.
