1999 UM Hall of Fame Inductee, Shawna Sauls-Laurendine finished her volleyball career at Montevallo as one of the most heralded athletes in school history. Shawna came to the University of Montevallo out of Milton, Florida, as a talented multi-sport athlete and immediately made her presence known. In her first season, she was selected as the NAIA District 27 Freshman-of-the-Year.

In her final two seasons for Coach Judy Green, Shawna led the Falcons in kills, kills attempts, hitting percentage, block solos and total blocks.

As a senior, Shawna led a Lady Falcon squad, ranked No. 1 for six straight weeks, to a national record 12th consecutive appearance in the NAIA National Volleyball Tournament. During the season, UM posted a 42-match winning streak, the second longest in NAIA history.

Shawna's play earned her NAIA First Team All-American, American Volleyball Coaches Association First Team All-American and Asics Tiger First Team All-American honors. Following her senior season, Shawna was awarded the 1994 Sington Trophy, given annually to Alabama's outstanding athletes of the year.
